Is there a way to insert the date a document was printed?

Post by netwrk219 »

My company had previously been working in Word before we got them to switch over to Flare (yay!) and a feature my manager likes from Word was the PrintDate feature from the Quick Parts button. This allowed us the ability to have the date printed on the documents so that the user who printed it would know when it was printed (our documents have about a 5-7 day shelf life with all of the changes and updates we do). The user would then be able to know if they needed to print a more recent version of the document or not.

I've looked on the boards and online and I can't find any search term that will get me close to an answer. I'm even ok if the answer is no, but finding reference to this possible option has been a daunting task.

Thanks in advance! Everyone here has been really helpful with all of my noob questions.

I found this in the Flare Help at some point. The code is:
<p class="NoteLevel1">Output from Flare on <MadCap:variable name="System.LongDate" />.</p>
And outputs as: Output from Flare on Wednesday, December 07, 2016.

http://webhelp.madcapsoftware.com/flare ... ble%20date will have more detailed info for you.

P.S. Note that this is the day it is output from Flare, not the day it's printed necessarily.
