Hi all,
I've been producing Word output of some of my documents for people to be able to proofread/review the documentation that I produce.
Once oddity is that some paragraphs in the Word output begin with a one space indent.
I'm not sure where this is defined, and how I'm able to remove this. I'm guessing this is probably an easy fix that hopefully someone can point me to.
Thanks!

Re: How to eliminate leading space in Word paragraphs
I would suspect that there is a leading space in the code of that paragraph or list item. Look at the paragraph or list item in the Internal Text Editor or other text editor. You'll see something like this:
You can probably craft some find-and-replace in source code runs to get rid of these. You can also use the full Analyzer to find these, but I generally don't let Analyzer remove them in one fell swoop because it also finds spaces in <pre> tags, which I don't want removed (given that I've used a <pre> tag).
FWIW, I see leading spaces like this all the time when authors have copied and pasted content from Word into Flare.

Code: Select all
<p> Here is your content. Notice the space after the p tag.</p>
<ol>
<li> Here is your content. Notice the space after the li tag.</li>
.
.
</ol>FWIW, I see leading spaces like this all the time when authors have copied and pasted content from Word into Flare.

Re: How to eliminate leading space in Word paragraphs
Hi there,
I see this issue all the time. The simple answer is that, by default, the way that HTML handles leading and multiple spaces differs from the way that Word does. This means that any leading/extra spaces are not shown in HTML outputs, or in the Flare UI, but become apparent when a Word document is generated.
If you navigate to the Text Editor, you will most likely see the offending spaces and you can remove them from this view.
I'm not sure what causes the extra spaces to be introduced at the beginning of tags. It has never really happened to me, but it happens to a work colleague frequently, and we have never been able to get to the bottom of how their workflow introduces the extra spaces. One suspicion is that perhaps they are introduced by cutting and pasting content.

You could do a find and replace, look for > + [space], replace with >
Make a backup first...
