PDF in HTML5 TOC does not display

Post by helgat »

Hi everyone,

I'm adding a PDF to a miniTOC that will be used in a top navigation HTML5 output. When I build the output, the miniTOC displays everything but the PDF linked entry. Is this by design or have I missed something somewhere?

Appreciate any input :)

Hello,

as far as I know, you need to copy your pdf into your projects content folder, and link it to an item in your TOC.

Thanks for responding. I realized I didn't provide enough info in my original post! The PDF has been brought into the project (copy to project) and is linked into the TOC. Everything else in the TOC displays on the published page, just not the PDFs.

Hi,

I, too, suddenly missed a PDF file in my TOC, a short while ago. Don't how that happened. I had to re-insert the link in my TOC.

Hi,
The PDF has been brought into the project (copy to project) and is linked into the TOC. Everything else in the TOC displays on the published page, just not the PDFs.
Just a few things to double check.
  • Have you definitely pasted the .PDF file into the Content folder of your project?
  • And can you see the PDF in the Content Explorer window within Flare? If so, just drag and drop the .PDF from there onto your TOC.
  • Once the PDF is in your project's TOC, try double-clicking on it to check that it opens. If it does, rebuild the project and try the link this time.

The PDF is definitely in the content and I dragged and dropped to create the TOC entry. I've just actually tried to add an external link as a topic also and the same thing happens. Internal topics display in the mini TOC but any "external" content doesn't. I've done this before without any trouble, so I'm not sure what's changed.

I've just tried another project (different skin and it was working fine last time it was built) and the same thing happens. Stumped! Has an update changed something somewhere?
