Hi all,
Please can someone advise about bulleted sub steps.
What is the best way of nesting bulleted lists under step numbered paragraphs please?
Note the above image is a mock up..
Ideally I would like to use paragraph formatting under <li> style type but when I try and set spacing on a <li> style flare does not add the spacing.
Previously I have always been taught that using the indent key was a bad thing and was effectively hard coding.
This is something very much frowned upon in authoring circles.

You can achieve this by creating an unordered list (<UL>) within your ordered list.
There is a fair bit of information about this.

Can this be done with a li style?
When I tried creating style under li the bullet had n space before the text and I could find no way of setting this.
The other thing if we take for example:
1. Do something
2. Then do this
o Sub step1
o Sub step2
If I try and use the indent button it won't work with bulleted list.
If I try and set padding it won't work properly, if over 7 pt it covers the bullet
If 7pt or under there is now space between the bullet and the text i.e oxxx instead of o xx
So as far as I can see I have a package that's not fit for purpose, in Robohelp I could control all of this in one place using paragraph styles, I could apply bullets, spaces and indents with no problem. In Flare the main problem seems to be with creating nested bullets. This holds true even if I use the proper li style?
The other links don't quite explain this either?
Still baffled and very frustrated

Re: Bulleted oe numbered sub steps
After some more testing with the trial version at home I finally got nested bullets to work.
So what I wanted was ..
1. Do something
2. Then do this .
o Sub step 1
o Sub step 2
3. Next etc.
The solution..
1. Create a a custom style based on <ol> tag
2. Select the text you want to make indented bullets and Unbind the list.
3. Using the Bullet button select the customised format you have created.
The nested bullets will now behave properly.
I am now also able to mix numbered steps created using the bullet button and also normal paragraph formats based on <p> tag. The main lesson is that the normal bullet lists don't seem to be something you can alter in terms of indent. If you want to do this create a custom format.
