I have images to which I've applied an image map - which works beautifully in my CHM targets.
It also works for most of my PDF targets (albeit without a screen tip)
However: a few PDF targets get the links confused with links to a completely different image in a different topic (that is imported into the project).
This is a bug in Flare (Bug nr #126991) but as a workaround I am told to add Chapter breaks to the toc entries:
"Adding the Chapter breaks (set to default is fine) will allow the image map to reset (making the PDF more similar to multiple topics rather than just the one) and will allow it to work. So in this case, if there are any image maps in a topic file that is a part of the TOC, set a Chapter break on that entry in the TOC file."
Has anyone else come across this? And if so, how do I / do you decide which topic in the toc to set the Chapter break to? 'that entry' would suggest to me that it would be the topic where the wayward imagemap image resides - but is not so...
Image map links not always working in PDF
Re: Image map links not always working in PDF
I haven't done this, but perhaps you need to set the chapter break on every topic in the TOC that contains an image map? That would be my reading of the text posted.
Re: Image map links not always working in PDF
Hi Psider - Maybe so, but setting chapter breaks on all topics with an image map is such a blanket solution that I don't really want to do this.
I might not have a choice though.
One remark of Flare: "If the {chapnum} autonumber format is not being used, this will not affect the output."
In my projects this is indeed not used, but others may not be so lucky?

Re: Image map links not always working in PDF
Additionally I found that:
Image maps are easily confused for PDFs if bookmarks with the same name but in different topics are used!
Additional to the real Chapter breaks in a child project, Chapter breaks need to be applied to topics from a parent project that contain image maps, otherwise they MAY not work properly.
Plus Chapter breaks on any of the topics that contain Image maps - to be on the safe side!!
I'm working my way through now to spot non-working links, but at least I know what to look for
