Images not appearing in PDF

Help!

I can see the images in the Flare project, and they always worked before, but now they suddenly do not appear in my PDF output. This is for images within a sub-folder within the 'Images' folder.

It seems that when I open a topic file, then change the name of the image sub-folder and update the links, the PDF picks up the image correctly, but only in the open topic file.

This sounds strange. Are you getting any build errors when you build the PDF target? Can you run a report to see if you have broken links in your project?

Do you have a support contract with MadCap? This might be a good candidate for contacting Support.

Had you at any time moved the images into the sub-folder you mention? When you did so, did Flare prompt you to update links? If you did, but Flare did not prompt you (which happens sometimes), you might now have a bunch of broken links. As Paul suggested, do you get any build errors? Or if you use View > Project Analysis > Broken Links, do you get a list of broken links? It could be that you just need to modify the code of all the topics to add in or take out an instance of "../" in the links to the source images. You could use Flare's Find-and-Replace to fix these errors *in the code*. (CAUTION: Always make a backup of your project before making changes like this in code.)

As always, I didn't keep track of what exactly started this problem (as I didn't expect to see any problems). The best I can figure out today is that 1) the XML editor didn't show the images as missing links (today it does), and 2) the 'update links' functionality wasn't working quite right (today it is).

The only difference between yesterday and today is that I installed the latest version of Java 8.

Hope no one else has this problem.

I know this is an ancient post, but is there a solution to this? I'm having the same problem.

The only time this has sometimes happened to me is if I've forgotten to put a class on the image or resize it and it has a large native size. Sometimes it'll be in my output cropped but sometimes it doesn't appear at all, this isn't 100% replicable however.

I am also having this issue and I have tried all the solutions suggested but nothing has worked.

There are a few things that I think differ from previous posts:
1. The image is in a snippet file and it does appear in other pdfs that use this snippet.
2. I have converted the snippet to text in the topic.
3. If I move the topic to different toc, the image appears in the output pdf.
4. If I use the toc in a different target, the image appears in the pdf.

So I think it is a problem with the target rather than the image.

I have tried recreating the pdf target.

There are no errors or warnings in the Build Log.

Help please, I have run out of ideas.

Could you have a snippet condition applied which excludes the snippet from the problem target?

I seem to have solved my problem.

I'm not sure why it helped, but I saved the image as a png rather than a jpg, and it's there now. I guess it could have been an image size problem, as the png is much smaller, but weird that it was ok for other targets.
