Flare V11 Crashing

I suddenly can't open Flare. I'm getting an error and the program crashes before I can even get it opened. Any ideas?

Just the usual solutions here:
Uninstall / reinstall Flare
Reinstall .Net (Dot Net)

Thanks for the tip. Is there a proper procedure for uninstalling/reinstalling? I'm guessing that uninstalling won't delete my project and content files; is that right?

Correct.

If in doubt, though, take a backup of your project files.

As for the procedure, I would normally uninstall Flare, reboot, reinstall .Net, then reinstall Flare.

Can I ask what O/S you are using? Looks like Windows 7 (there has been the odd issue between Flare and Windows 7 although that may only be Flare 12 and above rather than 11 - although it's been a while since I've been on Windows 7).

I'm using Windows 7. Tried uninstalling/reinstalling. No luck.

At this point I can only recommend that you take it up with Madcap support. I'd suggest it 'might' be a Windows 7 thing due to issues we've had in the past.

Yuck, both of my Flare versions (11 and 12) started doing this yesterday. I'm in middle of going through the repair/uninstall/reinstall dance. No luck with a straight repair yet. Same exact error. Wonder if some .Net component was updated yesterday thanks to corporate policy pushes.

Sigh.

What happens if you create a new project does it crash?

I can't get that far. The program crashes before I can even get it open.

Did you install a Windows update or anything since it was working last time? Do you have a restore point on your PC that you can roll back to?
