Responsive Tripane Output Messes Up TOC Links

Post by Michael Cohen »

So my boss in his infinite wisdom decided he didn't like the modern Flare Top Navigation output because he likes the tripane output (he thinks of online help as printed guides with chapters that he can page through). Anyway, we also have to produce responsive help. Using Flare 11, I changed the output from the Top Nav to the HTML5 Tripane output, and now all of the nice direct links in the TOC have been changed as follows:

This direct link: https://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/s ... eports.htm, which anyone could search on the website and find directly, now becomes

https://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/s ... k%7C_____1

I cannot see anyplace in the skin or target where I can change this back except to NOT use the HTML5 output. Is this a deliberate Flare feature, a bug, or am I missing something? ALL of our guides that we had to convert to responsive tripane help have this same problem.

I found a couple of posts on the subject. It seems like it is for ToC synchronisation, although a number of people have played with the code to remove it and not encountered any issues. Your mileage may vary.

That's exactly what the problem was. Based on those other posts, and with zero useful help from Madcap support I might add, I removed the offending code and the problem went away.
