Setting disc size for unordered lists in different browser

Hi all,
whow, the disc in unordered lists <ul> looks different in IE/firefox/chrom, unfortunately the left margin as well.

Can I define the size of the disc without drawing a round filled circle image . I would like to insert a character from a standard windows font, but how can I do that?

Kinda depends on which property you're using with your ul definition: list-style-type, list-style-image or just background with an image.
From what I read, browser support varies for the first two. What if you just ditch the style modification altogether and go with the default ul appearance?
