Flare 2017 r2: Redundant Copy of Page Layout Directory/File

Not sure yet if this is limited to Flare 2017 r2, but when using it I found that a redundant copy of my "PageLayouts" directory and one of the page layout files is being mysteriously added to sub-directories within my Topics directory.
For example, I was adding/editing new topics within Content/Topics/ProductA and then adding these topics to the TOC. When I attempted to add the new topics to version control, I noticed an additional Content/Topics/ProductA/PageLayouts directory that contained a copy of one of our page layout files. I navigated to this page layout file in Flare, right-clicked it and selected View Links and there were no files linked to it. The first time it happened, I thought it was just a random error and deleted the directory and the page layout file. But over the next few days, it happened several more times, and only seemed to affect directories that I was actively adding new topics to.
Has anyone else seen this?
