Hi everyone,
I'm a Flare newbie and wanted to clarify if identifiers show up in the output URL. I've created an alias file with a number of topics - all with identifiers. I've also linked the alias file to the primary target.
TIA!

Re: Identifier question
Not when viewing topics in the output via search or navigation, the URL will reference the topic name plus some other things (e.g. TOC identifier or search highlight info).
The ID is used (and can become part of the URL) when calling a topic. E.g.
http://yourserver/Help/Default_CSH.htm#6414

Re: Identifier question
This is my setup. I've always wondered - is there an output setting that allows you to replace the link that has the TOC identifier in it with the alias name?
It is not necessary, but it would be prettier.

You'll see the identifier in the output URL.
For example, click this link to Flare's help which has the identifier "Alias_Editor":
http://help.madcapsoftware.com/flare2017r3/Default_CSH.htm#Alias_Editor
The resulting topic is displayed, and you can see the identifier at the end of the URL:

No there isn't anything in Flare like that.Jess77 wrote:This is my setup. I've always wondered - is there an output setting that allows you to replace the link that has the TOC identifier in it with the alias name?

Not sure if this is useful, but I wrote a script that checks if the topic has an alias ID, and displays it in a link (so you can copy/paste).
