skin css files wrong metadata - binary/octet-stream

Post by susan_murray4 »

Hi,
I'm having problems displaying my files online after uploading my HTML5 output via AWS S3 bucket.
The skin .css files metadata is reported in AWS as binary/octet-stream rather than the expected text/css.
I haven't changed any files - the only thing that has happened is that I 've moved Flare onto a new pc - and that meant downloading Flare 12 again - maybe this Flare 12 download is different (even though it states it is the same version in the About dialog - 12.0.5991...).
Does anyone have any ideas? Any help is most welcome.
Thanks,
Susan.

Hi,

For what this is worth:

CSS files default to a MIME type of octet/binary. To correct this, sign into your AWS Management Console, go to the Amazon S3 section and find the relevant bucket. Locate the CSS file and select Properties. Under Metadata, set the Content-Type key to value: text/css

Hi René
Thanks - do you know if this is something new that Flare is doing - .css files being binary/octet-stream rather than text/css?
Not keen on updating the files in AWS every time I upload.

Thanks again,
Susan

Hi,

I do not think Flare is doing something here.

I guess it is a configuration in AWS that, once set, should take care of updating the next time using the correct MIME type.

Ok - thanks very much for your help. Seems to be resolved now that all the suspect files' metadata is now text/css. :-)
