Sorry for the newbie questions...
I'm looking for a quick way to add new elements such as div,p,h1,h2 etc in the XML Editor
Obviously, I can do this manually in the text editor -
In some cases (after a P and an h) doing Enter will add me a <p> and then I use the Syle window on the Home tab to change it to something else.
But there are cases where I am forced to use the text editor, for example when the last item on the page is a dropdown box - how would I start a new element ?
I'm looking for something like control 0 (for p) 1 2 3 4 5 (for headers) 8 (pre) p (div)

When the last element on the page is a dropdown, list, etc., press the down arrow key (perhaps multiple times) and watch the structure bars at the left. The cursor will change into a horizontal cursor, and at the bottom you will be in the <body> element (in my screenshot, the first bar at the far left is for the <html> tag which is colored for a condition on this topic, and the second is highlighted blue as the selection). At this point you can press enter to insert a paragraph tag, and then you can change it into any heading level or insert other elements as you like.

If you're inserting into topics the same type of elements regularly, you might want to create a Snippet of the content you want to insert (either in a big group or just one piece of what you want to insert). I have created Snippets for certain sets of formatting/styles/tables that I use often. I insert the snippet and then right click to convert the snippet to text. I've had this same question too. I notice it mostly when I want to insert paragraph text under a list. I've been doing it via the text editor as well. Likewise for inserting lists. Nice to know it's not just me

Madeline, it's quite easy to create lists, including those with paragraphs, graphics, tables within list items, and then just as quickly to end the list and return to a paragraph, using primarily keyboard shortcuts.
