If topic >1 in TOC, how do I create xref to instance?

I have a topic that is common functionality across many screens in a Gui and so appears more than once in our TOC. How do I insert a cross-reference to a particular instance of a topic, when it occurs more than once?

I would take a different approach and create a single snippet, then add that snippet to unique topics that contain the snippet. That way your breadcrumbs will function correctly. As far as I know there isn't any way to have multiple instances of a topic in a TOC and specify a particular instance.

Try the snippet route, once you get used to it it's very effective.

We solved this problem of the TOC sync with multiple instances of a TOC entry by using bookmarks. Each instance in the TOC gets a unique bookmark and all links point to the bookmark appropriate to their section of the help. Stuff all the bookmarks at the beginning of the topic (so they don't open the topic in the middle).
