When & How to Use Books

Post by BParker »

I am very new to all this.

When should I use 'books' and how do I do it?

I have imported some files from Word that will make up the bulk of one of my sections, but I'm not really sure how to get it from 'imported into the project' to 'where in the project I want it'.

Help!
Thanks.

Welcome to the forums :D

I'd suggest you take the time and go through the tutorials so you get to try out the fundamentals and then ask questions about the bits you don't understand.

It's also a good idea to look at some of the online tutorials for CSS, HTML and maybe XML/XHTML as they are the web standards used by Madcap products to create source files.

At this stage I'd also suggest you avoid source control if you can, while useful in a team environment it adds another layer of complexity you do not need for authoring and has the potential to create its own problems.

Take the time to play and familiarise yourself with Flare, you will get repaid in spades when you have to use it in anger...
