Our UI designer went thru and replaced some of the images used in our online help - he used new names for all of them and didn't reuse the original names. However, while i can see the all of the replaced images in the project xml editor, once the project is built and published, some of the images are not showing up...
I have also tried multiple browsers so it doesn't seem to be related to that. I am attaching an example along with an example of the properties that show up when you right-click on the missing item. The images are all png - old and new. I've removed the old images so there would be no mix up in selection, etc... usually when i replace images, the change is pretty seamless.
Thoughts?

Re: Replaced images are now not showing up in output.
The obvious one is caching.
Have you "cleaned" all of the output (Clean Project from the Build group on the Project tab of the ribbon) and cleared the cache on your browsers?
I'd also give your UI guy a slap...

Although you said you checked the XML editor, that's not the output - so have you checked this topic in your local build output? (before it's published)
Then if it's ok in the local build, that would suggest the issue is with your server (or publish process), rather than your project.

I've cleared cache several times. I have deleted the output, analyzer, and users folders. I went ahead and did a Clean Project as you recommended. NADA... no difference.
As for the UI guy... he was tasked with making it look pretty... but in doing so, he's just about removed all of benefits of Flare... he's put in a bunch of bootstrap and other js stuff that prevents me from doing anything without his involvement. I thought he would take my format and just tweak the colors and such... now mind you, the help looks very slick, but now I have very little control over how I can apply styles.. and i'm not allowed to create any styles... I have some control based on my original master stylesheet... but he's added several other stylesheets... and I have no idea what they all do... nor is he really saying.. ok.. don't get me started... SERENITY NOW! Sorry... I lost it there for a bit...

Interesting about the local output... so when i look at it straight after a build, the missing images noted in my original question DO show up... HOWEVER, it's missing the other image elements (i.e., icons that are part of a style... see attached). However, this is not the case once the project is published.
Thanks, guys!

Re: Replaced images are now not showing up in output.
PS The publish process is no different than it was with the original images that were replaced... what the heck would I look for in that causing an issue with something so basic... it's so weird... the replacement images are in the same folder, etc... even the same names.. he just saved over my originals. it's a puzzlement for sure. Do you think this is something that needs to be sent into Tech Support for help?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Could it be something as daft as different capitalisation?

Unfortunately not... he literally just copied over my existing names. I think i'm going to try deleting, then re-adding them all. oy.
Thanks!

Delete and re-inserting the images did not make a difference. :
Re: Replaced images are now not showing up in output.
If the images in your local build work ok, then it suggests the build is ok, and it's more down to the publish process or your server.
I'd suggest:
1) Checking the image files do actually exist on your server (since you're getting 404s).
2) Asking your IT folks that manage the server if anything else could cause the problem. I know content we publish to our servers can be delayed (sometimes by hours), due to some internal processes and server-side caching.

That's a good call, as when you're viewing local builds then Windows will handle mismatched capitalisation, but your server may not handle that.ChoccieMuffin wrote:Could it be something as daft as different capitalisation?
