System.IO.IOException displays when browsing for img/files

Post by jaybird »

When I browse for images or files in Flare 2019 I am getting the above error in the Madcap Flare encountered a problem window. In addition, I have to CTRL ALT DLT Flare and re-open because it won't let me just send a report and then move on. It keeps cycling back to the error window. I have entered a ticket, but wondered if anyone else has seen this. It's a show stopper.

OMG, this is such a show stopper. I realize I can't do anything that involves opening a dialog box. Another piece of information...the short explanation associated with this error is as follows:

"The requested operation cannot be performed on a file with a user-mapped section open."

Have you updated Windows recently, and are you running the latest dotnet framework? Have you uninstalled any software?

Sometimes Windows updates breaks things.

No idea whether this will do things for you, but if you close Flare and delete the Analyzer folder for your project, that might fix it. (If it's just in one project.)
Started as a newbie with Flare 6.1, now using Flare 2024r2.

thanks for your responses, and I think you were on to something because MC support told me to:

"I'd like to delete the temporary folders associated with the local project folder. To do this, please follow the instructions below:
1. Close Flare
2. Browse to the folder with your Flare project using Windows Explorer 3. Delete the Analyzer and Output folder (or move the Output folder to a different location if you do not want to lose any previously built outputs) 4. Browse into your Project folder and delete the "Users" folder inside 5. Re-open Flare and your project 6. Check to see if you are still experiencing the issue"

That worked. I guess that's the MadCap equivalent of turn off/turn on your laptop...delete the temp files! Thanks again.
