I created a macro that makes sure a table is 100% on a page not a fixed pixel count that was hard coded.

When I use playback it works fine; when I assigned a keyboard shortcut to it, it screws up the table or does nothing.

Was the keyboard shortcut you applied already in use? If so you need to clear it from where it's being used, then assign it to your macro playback.
