CHM: Replace http links by file links?
CHM: Replace http links by file links?
My CHM help system has many links to http: pages and images. This works fine. But some users cannot connect to the Internet (security issues). So I thought to use a 'ripper' to save the website in a single directory. I then adjust links accordingly. In Word, this works OK... pages open in a browser, showing images and allowing me to open other pages. It does not work in my compiled CHM. I get the directly linked page, but there are no graphics and links to other pages fail with the "This page can't be displayed" error. I don't know if this is a Microsoft Help limitation or a D2H limitation. Or maybe I am missing something. Surely I am not the first to think of doing this so I hope someone has an idea. If it's a D2H limitation, Madcap should address the issue.

Re: CHM: Replace http links by file links?
Hi,
Chm files cannot contain links to files outside the chm, unless they use http-protocol. This is a restriction from Microsoft html help.
For this, DocToHelp has the Media Folder which is completely copied into all results.
So, make sure that all your files that are called are in the media folder and that the project knows it (in Project Ribbon, see Project Settings, Media Folder(s).
