Anyone getting broken links (pointing to htm file on local machine) for cross refs in their PDF output in v2021?

Not here sorry. 2021 works OK for me. Check your xrefs are in the format:

Code: Select all

<MadCap:xref href="fileToLinkTo.htm">"Link text" on pageĀ 1</MadCap:xref>
And the file that is linked to exists in your project and TOC (the topic will be present in the output).

Cheers,

Rob

Confirmed bug. Fix is in development. Go back to the previous version if you encounter it.

Yes, many hyperlinks are broken in PDF when I publish from the latest version of Flare 2021. Clicking a link "hops" the PDF page about an inch, but doesn't take the user to the correct topic. This occurs when my hyperlinks are navigating to bookmarks, rather than topics or headings. Using the previous version fixes the issue.

Madcap support provided me an updated .dll that fixes the issue. Contact support if you experience the same thing.

I have broken links in my PDF output, but the issue for me is with hyperlinks, the cross-references work fine. It seems that Flare is hard-coding the hyperlinks in the build process instead of using relative links. For example:

This seems to be an issue with Flare 2021 since we didn't have this issue before we upgraded. Is there a fix for this issue? We have hundreds of customers complaining that links in our PDF documents don't work.

I have the same issue, but now with 2022.
Where do I post the issue for their tech support?
Thanks!
Heather

In Flare, on the Help ribbon, use the Report a Bug command. Alternatively, use the form at https://www.madcapsoftware.com/feedback/bugs/.

If you want to reach tech support, get contact info at https://www.madcapsoftware.com/support/ ... tions.aspx.

I can confirm that this is happening. :( I opened a support ticket. We will have to go through each xref in the PDF and edit with Acrobat.

All fixed, at least for us. One of the authors (retired a while ago) did some html/javascripting (really bizarre stuff) that caused the problem.
If you are experiencing something like this, check for any unusual scripting or code.

Hi
My colleague and I had been using the 2019 then 2020 R3 version of Flare for our project. Given our deadlines at the time, we decided it was safer to stay with the version that was working to avoid extra issues that would complicate things and possibly delay the release. What I am noticing is that the links I created for the PDF output have links where half work and half don't. I set them all up the same. I am not sure what is behind this. Is this version issue rectified in the 2021 version? Maybe it is time I upgraded?

Thank you.
Anne
