Who can tell me why?

I know that Flare is not responsible. But MadCap Flare wants to provide a tool for documentation that provides a professional look and at the same time they intend to automate so authors do not have to take care about too much layout issues in order to be able to concentrate on the content.

So why then does this happen, in a CSS world where all columns are set to "auto"?

At least I expect that the reason can be explained professionally. Then I would consider accepting that we have to fix it manually. What I do not really accept is an explanation that tells me: it is all by design of CSS and we must take care of this "manually" forever ... because this contradicts the goals of the MadCap Flare strategy.
