Multimedia upload
Re: Multimedia upload
Hi Mj
We store our videos in Vimeo and link to them from flare topics. Not sure if that is an option for you, but it works well for us.
thanks,
mark

Hi Mark,
Thank you for your help. few more points to clear,
1. What about security at Vimeo since we are using healthcare online help?
2. That link will redirect me to video directly?
3. I am protecting my help using 'HTML Guard' from copying the content, still that link will work?
4. You are putting that link as a hyperlink or what?
Again, thank you very much Mark for your time and help.
Thanks,
Mj

Re: Multimedia upload
Hi Mj,
Vimeo has a number of paid plans (not sure which one we are on). Anyway, the paid plans offer some additional security and privacy options. However, anything put up on the internet obviously has a certain security risk so I guess you would need to assess if it is the right option for your requirements. In our case, we add videos to it, but we select some of the security options so that they cannot be searched on in Vimeo and can only be embedded in certain domains (our doc site domain).
When you add a video to Vimeo, it provides a https url that you can link to from a Flare topic. So in Flare, we add this from the Insert tab > Multimedia > YouTube/Vimeo option. In the output, when you click the link, the video starts. I am not familiar with HTML Guard so I cannot comment on it.
I don't work for Vimeo and am not trying to endorse it in any way so there might be other 3rd party options available
thanks,
mark

Re: Multimedia upload
Hi Mark,
One quick question, which version you are using?
I am using 2017 r3 and it does not show Multimedia --> YouTube and all.....only the multimedia option is there.
Thanks,
Mj

Re: Multimedia upload
Hi Mj,
I am using version 2021 r2. I think that option has been there a while (see attached screenshot)
I would guess that you could still add the html manually to link to videos (via iframe perhaps).
thanks,
mark
