Anyone using Acrolinx or similar?

Post by kmorrison »

Another department in our organization is looking at maybe getting Acrolinx to help folks to use a consistent tone and stick to the approved terms for things, and they reached out to the tech writers to see if we had any experience with it or a similar tool. We don't. But Acrolinx claims to integrate with Flare, and now I'm curious about it. I'd like to hear about people's experiences with it from a source that isn't curated by the Acrolinx marketing team.

Does the Flare integration work well? Is it reliable and well-designed?
Are the style suggestions useful, or would we be summoning the Son of Clippy?
Is it easy to configure with your organization's style rules?
Can it remember that you dismissed certain suggestions so it doesn't keep suggesting the same thing that you still don't want to do?
If you have different style rules across different deliverables, how easy is that to manage? For example, what if you want to allow contractions in some documents but not others?

If you use a different tool with Flare to help maintain a consistent tone and stick to an organization's style guide, I'd be interested in hearing your experience with that too.
