Topics with no incoming links associated with a target

I'm trying to clean up a very bloated project that I knew had many unused topics. I started by generating the Unused items report, which found many of the unused topics -- but not all of them. As I'm going through the project, I have found many topics with no incoming links that were not included in the report because Flare reported that they were associated with a target. These topics are not included when the target is built. They have no incoming links, so they are definitely not linked to by any TOCs, aliases, snippets, or other topics that are associated with the target. Can anyone explain how this happens?

A first thing to do is close Flare, delete the \Analyzer folder, then re-open the project. That forces Flare to regenerate the database of links etc. You might find that solves your problem, but it won't do any harm. Give it a try and see what happens.
