XML Editor extremely slow in Print Layout, normal in Web Lay

I've been using a new installation of Flare 2022 r3 for about three weeks now. Over the last few days, actions in the XML Editor window have slowed to a crawl. For example, I double-click a word, hit the delete button and it literally takes 10 seconds for anything to happen. This, obviously, makes doing anything productive just about impossible. I just had a phone session with Madcap Support, which didn't really solve anything after going through all the usual troubleshooting steps (delete Analyzer, Output, and User folders, run as Administrator, try to repair installation, reboot laptop, etc.) The one interesting thing we discovered is that if I change to Layout (Web), behavior is normal. In Layout (Print), the performance slows down. Project is local (I work at home on my own), not bound to source control (controlled externally), nothing has changed recently in the laptop, not a large project, just 100MB, less than 300 files.
