Find panel not repsonding to inpur from keyboard

This morning, I logged in, opened Flare and and wanted to search for a term in my project. I opened the Find and Replace Files panel, clicked in the Find box and attempted to type. No response. The cursor is there and blinking, but once I attempt to type, it goes away.
If I click the drop-down list for the Find box, I can select any previously used terms and it will populate the Find box and search. (Or I can copy and paste from somewhere else.) But if I type anything else in the box, nothing appears.
1. Close and reopen the panel--same problem.
2. Close and reopen Flare--problem goes away.
This happens periodically and does not seem to be related to anything specific. This was a problem way back in Flare 10, and support said "cannot duplicate." I'm on version 19 and still get this problem now and then. I cannot duplicate it on purpose, either. It just happens once a week or so. Once it works, it keeps working--until it doesn't.
Rather than simply trying to duplicate the problem by opening the pane and typing, maybe try looking at the code and see if anything is there/is not there that would cause it to not accept input? Is it a caching issue? A memory issue? Blocking input from keyboard for some reason? Whatever it is, it gets cleared out or reset on restart of Flare. Is there a service that starts when you open Flare (that maybe isn't starting)? Looking in the Event Viewer, there were multiple Flare crashes at the time the Find box was unresponsive.
