In my stylesheet, i changed the image for the opened / closed drop down but i can't see the new image in the WYSIWYG editor. i Always see the original image.
Is there a way or a a preference to change this?

No you can't change it.
It's just a standard icon in the editor to show it's a drop down, like the Toggler or Expanding Text icons.
It isn't showing the actual icon used - the editor icon points down, the output icon points right.
