Newbie confused by project binding

Post by BedfordWriter »

I've used Flare for a while but am new to Central. Hoping someone can explain the following to me.

We uploaded a project to Central and have since created a few branches.
Last week, I was having trouble with things being slow to respond, so on Madcap's advice I did a fresh import of the project to my computer. (Yes, I made a backup of the original first)
So far so good until today when I want to send out a review package.

If I attempt to create the review package in Flare, I'm told that "The current project has not been connected to Madcap Central. Bind the project before sending files for review."

How can I have a project that I imported from Central not be bound to Central???

By the way, I successfully synchronized my changes with the branch and sent a review package using Central's interface. Which is clunky.

In Flare, click the Branch button in the bottom-right corner of the interface.

What repos are listed in the Locals and Remotes tabs?

My guess is that you might have created the branch locally, never pushing it to Central (remote).
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

All branches are included in the list of remotes. From the original post, I'm working with a fresh import of the project from Central.
I have GIT installed on my computer and the path is registered with Flare. I can push, pull, and synchronize. The work that I did yesterday was uploaded to Central where I was able to create the review package.

It's still telling me that the project isn't bound. This makes no sense to me.

Figured it out. Total newbie error...

I was used to keeping my project in a folder named "DocTrunk\Trunk" (Don't ask why)
When I bound it to Central I got more specific: "ProductName"
When I did the fresh import, it wanted to place that under my folder as DocTrunk\Trunk\ProductName. So I moved it, thinking that so long as everything moves, no harm done. Turns out, that was wrong and you can't go moving folders around to suit yourself.

So now it's "DocTrunk\ProductName" instead of "DocTrunk\Trunk" and life returns to normal.
