Removing inline formatting

Post by JoeWeinmunson »

I know I must be missing something obvious but I'm stumped. A long time ago many headings in the project I'm on were given this inline formatting: <h2 style="margin-left: 72px;">
I'm just trying to get rid of the styling and leave them as regular h2s.

So far as I can tell I'm following these instructions to remove inline formatting but the Replace button is grayed out. What am I missing? (https://help.madcapsoftware.com/flare20 ... Folder.htm)

The missing bit is that in "Replace/Action" section you need to select "remove inline formatting" from the dropdown and re-specify the inline formatting you want to replace.

Once you do that, you'll see the yellow preview text has a line through the formatting to remove.

This makes sense after you think about it. For example, perhaps you want to find h2 with italic and red colour, but only want to remove the red colour. This process allows you to search for the full inline formatting, and choose to remove only a part of it.

If it was every heading in a big project I'd probably do a find/replace outside of Flare in a text editor (being careful what I'm looking for and making a backup before proceeding).

In Flare, per topic, you can use the inline formatting removal tool:
https://help.madcapsoftware.com/analyze ... atting.htm

Either select all or put your cursor in the line you want to change. Click the icon in the Font section in the Home tab that looks like an underscored B with a red X on it.

Cheers,

Rob
