Part Title Pages and TOC Issues in Flare

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to add part title pages before major chapters in Flare, but I’m running into some issues with autonumbering and TOC formatting.

For example, I want to have a page with "Part 1: Software Configuration" as a heading before a new section. However, I don’t want the part heading to use autonumbering, while my topic headings should still be numbered.

The problem is that even when I create a heading style without autonumbering, it still shows up with numbers in the TOC. Also, since I have two titles on the part title page, the second one gets pushed to a new page in the PDF output.

I also tried creating a custom style and adding it to the TOC, but it doesn’t appear there. At this point, I’m not sure what else to check.

Has anyone dealt with this before? Any suggestions would be really appreciated!

Try setting the mc-heading-level property on your custom style. e.g. set it to 1 if you want it to be a top level heading. I think that will make it appear in the TOC.
