Re: Changing the name of a project
What were you trying to do?
Are you changing a project name (which is the name of the whole Flare document - ends in .flprj) or the topic name (ends in .htm)?

Good question. It's the one that is represented graphically by the image of a folder.

Re: Changing the name of a project
The folder is nothing except a folder. You tried to rename "Copy of..."? If any files are linked anything in that folder, you'll have to update the links.

I got a question about updating the links, and I selected yes to update the links.

What happened that you didn't expect, or didn't happen that you wanted?

When I renamed the project, I didn't expect the old folder to hang around along with the new folder.

Re: Changing the name of a project
Are you using source control? If so, the source control system won't remove the original folder. (That's it's job, after all--to keep track of different revisions.)
Until next time....

I don't think I am using source control, but if you can stand a hideously stupid question, how would I know if source control was activated?

Re: Changing the name of a project
Your developers (if it's a software company or something like that) would know, and I'm pretty sure you would know too. It doesn't come with Flare, but newer versions of Flare can interface with some source control systems.

I would say not, then. Flare is on my system only, and I wouldn't have turned on source control.

Probably not the problem, but you don't have your output directory set to the same directory that your content is in, do you?

No, I don't think I do.LTinker68 wrote:Probably not the problem, but you don't have your output directory set to the same directory that your content is in, do you?
I was trying to duplicate the same setup I used with RoboHelp. In RH, I had the content in one directory, and all the outputs going to another directory entirely. Don't remember why I did it that way, but I had a reason at the time.
If Flare wants me to do it differently, however, I certainly will.
I will start looking into this myself, but if you have pointers regarding output directories, please feel free to lob them my way.

You can change the output of Flare, in Your Target on the basic tab.

When you say "basic tab," are you being literal or metaphorical?Richard Ferrell wrote:You can change the output of Flare, in Your Target on the basic tab.
Of course, I went looking a tab labeled "Basic," then thought better of if.

I think I found it.
It is the Basic tab of the primary target in the Targets folder in the Projects Organizer.
