Find and Replace Unhandled Exception

Post by Ken Billing »

Whenever I perform a Find and Replace in topic files with the Find In Source Code option enabled an unhandled exception occurs. I have .NET Framework 3.5 installed.

Did this just start occurring (i.e., did it work before but now it's not)?

I've only been using Flare a couple of months, but it's done this since the first time I tried F&R across files in source code.

I wonder if you need .NET 2.0 installed? That's what Flare requires, and you'd think that .NET 3.5 would include everything in .NET 2.0, but they're not overwritten if you install a new version on the same machine (both versions can exist on the same machine -- I have three levels of .NET on my machine). You could try installing .NET 2.0 and see if that takes care of the problem, or try re-installing .NET 3.5.

AFAIK, the various .NET frameworks are not incremental, so having 3.5 won't necessarily work with an application written for 2.0. You can, however, have them installed on the same machine without having them conflict with one another (I have 2.0 and 3.0 installed here).
Until next time....

Think of the dot net frameworks as tool boxes.

There is a little commonality, but each version of the dot net frameworks is a different set of tools. You need 1 & 2, and 3 will become a prerequisite for more and more software as time goes by.

Waiting for the release of dot net framework 4... :(

I have 1.1, 1.1 Hotfix, 2.0 SP1, 3.0 SP1, and 3.5 installed. So, where does that point the finger?

You might try reinstalling .NET 2.0.
