I'm wondering if our Flare project isn't configured correctly?
Our single help project is conditioned to produce three different variants. For ease of explanation, I'll simply call them Variant A, Variant B, and Variant C.
Some of the conditioning is at the paragraph level or within sentences so that doesn't affect our search results.
But some of the conditioning is done at the topic level so that entire topics are not present in some variants while they are in others.
My problem is that we're finding that the search results in Variant A will point to topics that only appear in Variant B due to the topic-level conditioning. As a result, the links provided in the search results point to non-existent pages which is a big problem as we don't want our customers seeing something in the search results, clicking on the link provided and getting a "page not found" error.
Are we doing something wrong or is there a flaw in the search engine?
Thanks in advance.

When you are applying topic-level conditions, are you doing it in the Content Explorer or the TOC? TOC conditions don't really remove the topics from the output.

Re: Conditioned Topics Showing Up In The Search Results
Are you tagging in the TOC or the Content Explorer? Your search results will show topics if they are only tagged in your Table of contents.

Sorry to take so long to respond.Richard Ferrell wrote:Are you tagging in the TOC or the Content Explorer? Your search results will show topics if they are only tagged in your Table of contents.
The topics are conditioned first in the Content Explorer and then again in the TOC so that the TOC mimics the behavior of the generated files.
Despite this, we're still getting search results pointing to files that have been "conditioned out".

Make sure that your target is set with the correct condition(s) included and all others excluded. And delete the output folder before compiling.
