Renaming images imported via Word

Can anybody advise on the quickest route to renaming images in an imported Word doc which are just given numbers i.e. 03000035.png - there's hundreds of them <sigh>. Also same in the Robohelp import. Is there a way to preview I can use so I can at least see them other than opening them one at a time in the Image Viwer via Content Explorer? Can I (easily) print off a list - or is that similar to not being able to just print out my TOCs?

Sorry if obvious - first stab at writing Online Help let alone getting to grips with Flare!

Renaming the files is fairly easy--if you rename them in Flare's content explorer, it will offer to update any links to that image so you won't have to rebuild any links or topics.

As far as seeing what the image is, I think I would do that with Windows Explorer. I would put Windows Explorer and Flare side by side (this is easier if you have two monitors, although it can be done with one monitor if necessary). Put Windows Explorer's view into Filmstrip mode--this will give you a preview of the selected file in a decent size. Once you've determined what the image is, you can rename it in Flare.

While you're renaming files, you might want to keep track of which old names correspond to which new names - maybe a quick spreadsheet or something. Then if links break - aren't updated correctly for whatever reason - you can use find-and-replace to fix them without having to figure out from context which image belongs in a particular topic.

Thanks for both replies - very helpful. It was the thumbnails I was after so Explorer on Large Icons does the trick.
