Word doc output backwards

Post by ccardimon »

This error is so odd it is amusing, especially one hour before COB on a Friday.

I printed my project to Word. I elected to View Output and discovered the document as output is exactly backwards.

The last page is the title page. The first page is the very last page.

How would I reverse that?

If anyone would like to chime in on this, please do. I am a bit bug-eyed right now.

I know there is a "Reverse Print Order" option in Word printing (most apps support it actually) - maybe it got enabled inadvertently. If you tell it to Print from the File menu, you can find this option by clicking the Options button in the lower left (or at least that's where it is in Word 2003...)
Until next time....

I think I got it. The TOC order may have been fouled. Didn't matter in RH. Maybe it does in Flare.

Flare Bases the Printed output on your TOC, so if the TOC is wacky, then your printed output is going to be Wacky!

I fixed the TOC in both my Parent and Child projects, but the project is still being output backwards in Word. What's up with that?

I also received a bunch of error messages that I saved into a report. Where may I post the gist of these messages?

You can attach the file to a bug report submitted at http://www.madcapsoftware.com/bugs/submit.aspx.

But should I?

How do I know if these are really my mistakes -- or something Flare is doing that I simply don't know about?

Am I making sense here?

I guess that would depend on when the error messages occur. Flare doesn't generally display error messages as you're typing, unless the system runs out of memory. Although several people have reported problems when they try to create/insert too many index messages at a time (that is, without saving between inserts). Other than that, I can't off the top of my head think of many error messages that appear as you type. Unless you're in the habit of modifying the source code of a topic -- then you might inadvertently forget an end tag or something similar, in which case Flare tells you as soon as you try to save that topic or switch to another one.

Most errors occur when Flare is compiling. Those errors generally relate to a problem with a project, such as a missing stylesheet or a topic not being included in a TOC for print output and so on.

So which types of errors are you seeing, and when are they occurring?

Some of my concerns have been addressed here:

Guess I have work to do. After I figure out what I need to fix!
