I have imported 2 large projects from RoboHelp X5 to Flare. This all appeared to go quite smoothly, but I noticed when going throught the files in Flare that occasionally the word order had mysteriously changed.
For example, the text :
"Right-click the CI and select Copy or Move CI... in the context menu to display the
Copy or Move CI wizard."
had changed to:
"Right-click the CI and select Copy or Move CI... wizard. Move
CI in the context menu to display the Copy or"
So all the text is present but not necessarily shown in the right order, and in most cases has also become complete nonsense.
It doesn't happen very often, but I have found quite a few places where it does occur. This is quite worrying with large projects as it takes ages to go through every single topic to check that the text is correct, and even then, it would be easy to miss text if it's only a couple of words that have changed.
I suspect it has something to do with the 'span lang' tag , in this case <span lang=EN-US>, in RoboHelp, which seems to be liberally, and unnecessarily, sprinkled over the source code in RoboHelp. I did try removing the tags before converting one of the projects but as it appears in many different combinations within the tags, its not easy to get rid of. With my other project, I'd already done far too much work in Flare to consider converting again. So the only answer seems to be to compare the Flare text with the RoboHelp text, but that's really time-consuming.
I have also filed this as a bug report but have not had any reaction yet. Since I'm fairly new to Flare, I don't know if I should expect a reaction.
I'm really curious to know if anyone else has experienced anything like this as it seems quite a major problem.
Apart from that I'm enjoying working with Flare now I've got the hang of it!
