index entries tied to bookmarks?

Post by ed_d »

I imported a Framemaker project into Flare and I believe that several of my index entries are tied to bookmarks or topics, not keywords. This makes them hard to delete, as these bookmarks are linked to quite a few files in the project.

Is there any way to delete the index entries without deleting the bookmarks?

Thanks,

I must admit, I have no idea what you mean when you say your index entries are "tied to bookmarks or topics, not keywords".

What do you actually see in your topics?

If you have Show markers switched on (under the 't' icon on the toolbar), you'll see index entries in green blocks and bookmarks in yellow blocks.

Flare will just convert your index and bookmark markers from FM. If you're finding that some bookmarks are appearing in your index, or vice versa, then I would suggest checking the marker entries in your FM files. In my experience, people quite often set the wrong marker type in FM by accident.

My mistake. I was under the impression that when you click on an index entry in the index explorer, you jump to the keyword in the topic. Thus, I thought it was jumping to a bookmark.

I found the errant keywords and fixed them.

Apologies.

Ah, no problem.
Its behaviour is quite inconsistent though. When I click on an entry in the index explorer, it'll open the topic with the keyword, but it doesn't always highlight the keyword (only about 1 in 3 times). I'm guessing that's a bug.
