Mapcap logo on output screen
Mapcap logo on output screen
During a Flare demo yesterday, Mike ?? said the logo could be removed.
I'm talking about the cap and text "Madcap" in the upper right corner of the web help.
I didn't write down his email address; so, I'm asking the forum how to change this.

From Project Manager > Skins open the skin you are using for your WebHelp project.
In the right pane, click the Styles tab.
Expand ToolbarItem > Logo.
Expand Basic.
Select Icon, and then choose None.

Re: Mapcap logo on output screen
What you may be confused about is when you are creating .NET help, there is a MadCap logo you can't currently remove. This has been requested by numerous people, and there is hope that a future version of .NET help won't require the MadCap logo.
Re: Mapcap logo on output screen
Thanks Rozzano, your instructions worked.

"I" before "E" except after "C" or when sounded as "A" as in 'neighbor' and 'weigh'.

I tried to get rid of the madcap icon using the instructions above.. which appeared very straigh forward... but when I expand Toolbar>Logo, then Basic and select Icon.. there is no "None" option.. just greyed out letterrs that show "(not set)"

Re: Mapcap logo on output screen
You will want to change the icon itself and add a new one, or on the toolbar create a custom toolbar and remove the logo from there.

Thanks for the info.. I hadn't considered replacing it.. but it's a great idea..
so apparently i can replace it, but i can't delete it? That's fine.. but that brings me to my next question:
I have an icon i want to use (our company logo).. how do i get it to replace the Madcap one?
THANKS!

Re: Mapcap logo on output screen
Real simple where you set the logo to none, just have it browse for the image, and point to your image that you want to use, it will then be copied into the skin file.

If you don't want any logo icon there, set the Icon to none instead of (not set).ktbCA57 wrote:so apparently i can replace it, but i can't delete it?
Think of the (not set) option as meaning the same as default, so that would show the MadCap logo.
It is a bit confusing, the logo icon isn't included alongside the other buttons on the WebHelp Toolbar tab, which is where you'd expect to switch it on/off.
Re: Mapcap logo on output screen
hi again..
OK.. i sucessfully changed the MadCap logo to one of ours (thanks to those of you who responded!)... it worked like a charm.. but now i want to change it to a different logo.. but it's not letting me.. i've gone in and selected the new logo, just as I did on Friday, but it's not changing.. I save after the change.. then rebuild.. but nothing is changing... WHAT AM I FORGETTING OR DOING WRONG?
Thanks!

Re: Mapcap logo on output screen
First, if you stored your logo in your Resources\Images folder and that's the one you changed, that won't work. Once it's specified in the skin, Flare saves it elsewhere (don't ask me why), so make sure you go through the same steps to change it in the skin. Even if you used the same file name, you have to reload it from wherever you stored it so that it pulls the new version of the file and puts it in the skin.
Second, make sure you delete the output folder before building. Changes to the skin sometimes aren't picked up by Internet Explorer because it uses cached files for the skin elements. Deleting the output folder before building tricks IE into thinking it's looking at a brand new site and not one it's visited before.

Re: Mapcap logo on output screen
When you select the logo Icon, make sure you select [Browse for Image...] to select the new file, and don't pick an image from the list.
The images it lists when you select the Icon are the ones already saved inside the skin file (i.e. your old one), you need to browse for the new image to replace the one in the skin.

Re: Mapcap logo on output screen
yes... I only know how to change the logo via the Skin>Syles method as described last week.... i've done it and redone it several times. and the file name is completely different than the one i originally changed.... also, i even tried setting the skin to "none"... and nothing changed. I tried deleting the Output folder... nada...
ok.. so i just went in and tried one more time.. I have 2 skins... i thought i had been toggling back and forth between them, but apparently, it required me to refresh in between the toggles... when i did that, I could see that the icon was being changed in one and not the other... and THAT was the problem.
Thank you SO much... i think whatever the reason, your check list of things to watch for will be useful to remember in the future..
THANKS LISA!
