Avoiding the "Start Page"
The Start Page has some nice links on it, but I'd rather that it didn't display every time I open Flare. (I know I can open a specific project and avoid it, but, in my neuroses, I'd rather skip the redundant links and in-house advertisements.) Does anyone know of a way to prevent the Start Page from displaying?
I know that with MS Word it's possible to avoid the ever-so-helpful intro screen by adding a switch to the shortcut that you use. Does MadCap offer this kind of customizability?
Thanks in advance.

The only way I get around it is to open a project file instead of opening Flare.

So it's something that you also feel you have to 'get around'? I'm glad I'm not alone in my quirk there.
Are the MadCap developers pretty responsive? Or do you think we'll just have to live with it?

They're very responsive (at least telling you they received your enhancement request and what ticket# it is). But I think we'll just have to live with it. If it's coming out in the next release, the developers will let you know that too.

Re: Avoiding the "Start Page"
It seems to me like I accidentally closed the tab once and it didn't come up the next time I started Flare, so I had to do the Windows > Reset Layout, or maybe it was View > Start Page (or whatever the option is) to get it back. But that may have happened when I had a project open and I was trying to get the start page back. If you close the tab, then shut down and restart Flare (without opening a project), does that cause the start page to stay hidden on startup?

I think closing the Start Page will keep it away every time you return if you have Window > Layouts > Auto Save Window Layout selected.

If that is not working for you, If you are working on one project only you can have this project load on startup, This can be done by clicking on File, Startup File, and then naivigate to your FLPRJ

Re: Avoiding the "Start Page"
I have a related question: I have 5 projects listed in the "Open an Existing Project" section of the Start Page, but I only want 2 of them to be listed. Does anyone know where I can edit this list?

Re: Avoiding the "Start Page"
I know there is a way to not have the start page come up, but I do not remember where that setting is. I'd have to get back to you on that one when I find it. I think that if you close out of it and then open the same project again, it goes away. You can get it back by View>Start Page
I don't think there is a way to modify this list.baileym wrote:I have a related question: I have 5 projects listed in the "Open an Existing Project" section of the Start Page, but I only want 2 of them to be listed. Does anyone know where I can edit this list?

Yes, there is: File > Recent Files OR Recent Projects (depending on which one you want to remove entries from) then choose the Manage item at the top.
Until next time....

Re: Avoiding the "Start Page"
I set up my project's filename in File>Startup File and closed the Start Page. Sure enough, the next time I started Flare, Start Page was gone and I was looking at my project's TOC.
I love this forum!

Re: Clearing the Exisiting Projects list
Thanks for posting the instructions. I do this so infrequently that I never remember how to do it. I think it would be great if there were a link from the descriptiong of the feature on the Start Page to the cleanup instructions. The choice is not intuitive and a search didn't help me find the answer.
