Hi Folks,
I just compiled a .chm file and it takes 28 to 30 minutes instead of 7 to 8 minutes last week with Flare 3.1 ...
Any suggestions?

I assume nothing changed in regards to the setup? Does it take that long for each round of compiles? Compiling locally or to the network?

exactly. Nothing changed. I compile locally now and did so before ...
I tried twice: first time 28 minutes, second time 30 minutes.

That's what I expected, but not hoped for. There are other reports about longer compile times in Flare 4, but in those cases it was due to compiling to a network share and fragmented files. I guess running defrag won't hurt.
What you can do is take the .hpj file that is located in the temp folder in the specific output folder and pull that through the HTML compiler yourself. That may give some clues if it is a Flare issue or something else.
Also, do you use Master Pages in the project?

Flare v4 now includes some of the Analyzer reporting. I wonder if that affects compile time as it makes a last check for broken links and such?

Close your Analyzer v2 while compiling?
If you submit your bug feedback request here, the more likely it'll get fixed or included in a future release

Intermediate update: Colleague made similar experiences today.
I will try to switch Analyzing off ... will report back.

Update:
- switched off collecting phrases
- compiled in debug mode with SQL server and SQL express switched off
- compiled files (_Temp.hhp) with the HTML Help Workshop
Nothing helped.
Got a bug report number - in case you want to refer to the same bug, the number is 23969.
