Flare and integrated Source Control

Post by raikeswood »

Does anyone know which versions of Microsoft Visual SourceSafe Flare supports? We use a really old version of VSS but it doesn't support Flare's integrated source control features. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

As far as I know only the newer version(s) of VSS are supported. So I assume that VSS 2005 will be fine. If MadCap would just have listened to me than implementing connectivity to older VSS versions wouldn't have been a problem, but no, it had to be exclusively a proprietary API.

VSS 2005 and Later will work best with Flare, I have since some customers use VSS 6.0 but that can cauase problems where files may not be checked out, or updated when they say they have been, VSS 6.0 was Released in 1999, so there are some issues with it and new applications.
