Hi there,
can anybody tell me whether I have to have the TOC in the navigation pane to get MiniTOCs in topics?
Actually we would prefer to produce a very special help file with only the search tab in the navigation pane. But we would like to have MiniTOCs in a few topics. Do those settings go together? Or do I need to have the TOC, too?
That would mean we would have to switch off the navigation pane completely and that would mean no search facility ...
What prerequisites for MiniTOC proxy?
Re: What prerequisites for MiniTOC proxy?
The mini-TOC is tied into the structure of the TOC. A mini-TOC works by looking at the topic it's inside of, and looking for topics that are a level below that topic. So if the mini-TOC's topic is associated with a book, then all of the topics inside of that book will be listed in the mini-TOC. If the mini-TOC's topic is at the same level as the topics below it in the TOC, then it won't work -- the topics it lists can't be on the same level.
That said, I don't think you need to include the TOC pane (tab) in the HTML Help output. You can turn that off in the skin. So long as there is a TOC file in the project when it's compiled, then the mini-TOC will be able to gather the information it needs to render correctly in the output. I've never tried it without including the TOC tab in the output, but it should work.
