Ctrl + Mouse wheel resizing
Because many of our users are partially sighted, we need the functionality of varying screen font size by holding down the Ctrl key, and scrolling the mouse wheel. Having imported an RH-X5 project, I having difficulty figuring out how to set the font attributes to allow this. I thought it was simply a case of ensuring the use of HTML font sizes as opposed to a fixed point size, but I'm clearly missing something.

Re: Ctrl + Mouse wheel resizing
I just opened a handful of CHMs and not a single one does the font-resize on Ctrl+wheel. Makes me believe as that CHMs can't do that by design.

Re: Ctrl + Mouse wheel resizing
Trust me - I know it has worked in the past.
If you use Ctrl +m/wheel when viewing this message, does it work?

Sure it does, but this is in a web browser. I'm not viewing the forum through the CHM viewer.

Re: Ctrl + Mouse wheel resizing
O.K. It's been a bad day, and I've just found the real problem.
My Flare project WILL enlarge and reduce font size with Alt + M/wheel - in Windows XP - but NOT in Vista.
Dunb question - but what's so different about Vista and .chm files?
So unless anyone has any ideas, I guess it's a case of hammering the Microsoft "Enable" divison about this apparent deficiency with Vista.

Re: Ctrl + Mouse wheel resizing
That is odd, because I tried it on XP exclusively and can't get this to work at all. The only reaction I get is that the highlight moves up and down when Ctrl+wheeling in the ToC even after I clicked into the topic pane. I googled for some more information about this, but came up empty.
What the difference is between XP and Vista? XP works and Vista is crapware. It's that simple.

Re: Ctrl + Mouse wheel resizing
There are two criteria for this to work in XP
1) The .chm must use HTML font sizing.
2) Focus MUST be on a topic Window. (F6 will usually move focus from TOC to Topic window)
If needs be, I can upload a small .chm which I know works.

Re: Ctrl + Mouse wheel resizing
Ah, one thing to try is to use HTML Workshop and see what the setting is for the project. In case the font sizing isn't configured correctly change the settings and compile using HelpWorkshop. Would be nice if Flare exposed all those settings in Flare, somewhere hidden in some Special or Extras tab.

Re: Ctrl + Mouse wheel resizing
Honestly, nobody gives a damn about Vista anymore. Even Microsoft wrote it off as a flop and talks only about Windows 7. Vista is really a bad product and given the current state of affairs it just doesn't make sense to bend over backwards to support it, especially when targeting corporations.
Just wondering, for which application are these the System Requirements?

Re: Ctrl + Mouse wheel resizing
The application is a braille translation program which is used world-wide by private individuals, the education sector, through to corporations of all sizes, including major government departments. And yes, I agree that the major corporate sector are avoiding Vista as if was and dose of ebola hemorrhagic fever, but others are not so well informed.
Unfortunately a significant number of users are partially sighted, and this feature has been a major one for them. Sadly too, many believe the sales pitch that new XP systems are all but unobtainable. Yes, you and I know better, but it's usually too late by the time they get in touch with us.
I'm almost tempted to ask the software guys if they could write an add in for when the Ctrl +M/Wheel command is used, which flashes up a message saying "Sorry, you have been s--ewed by Microsoft Vista!"

Re: Ctrl + Mouse wheel resizing
We are trying to get resizing working in our CHM projects as well, without any success. I stumbled across this topic, so sorry for the thread zombie...
I just went through the stylesheet and eliminated any font-size that isn't set by em sizes. No static sizes now, so we should be set to scale properly.
I checked HTML Workshop, but I don't see anything in the HHP file that shorts HTML font sizing; where would this be set, and what should it default to?
Focus is automatically being set to the topic using <body onLoad="focus()">.
Several of our styles have indenting and padding set by pixel size, but from what I have found that shouldn't affect font scaling.
So, what else could I be missing?
