Moving Project files to a Network Folder

Post by nick777 »

Currently, my project files are stored on my local drive. We need to have our data backed up. Unfortunately, IT wants me to store my files on the network drive, because they don't want to back up my computer for some reason. So, I need to transfer all my project files to a network folder.

How can I do this without breaking all my Mimic projects?

I guess it is sufficient to have a copy of your files on the network. I won't recommend that you work off the network share as that will be very very slow. The easiest way is to create a scheduler task and have that call a batch file that copies the project files to the network. Have it start at 3 in the morning so that it won't get in the way of you working and vice versa. That way you have a daily backup on the network share, which then gets backed up by IT. Besides that, after completion of a milestone you can always make an extra copy by executing the batch file manually.

Good idea. I figured it out, wrote a little batch file to execute and set it up with Task Scheduler.
