Image Map Moves Things Around on Compile?

Post by sbraun »

I set up a lovely image map with some rectangles and some links, but when I compile and view in the browser, the hotspots are no longer over the parts of the picture where I put them.

Huh? :|

Actually, it looks like my cursor went weird and the image map is fine. cursor is inverting its functions: it looks like a hand when it is *off* the hotspot, but looks like an arrow when it is *on* the hotspot. Not Madcap's bad.

Odd. Might want to try changing which cursor you're using in the Windows control panel - that should reset the specific cursors for each function. You could then change it back if you wanted.
Until next time....

I'm using two monitors. I wonder if that confused my cursor. I have had other cursor issues within madcap's stuff when using two monitors.

FWIW, I too have had cursor problems with .NET applications (not just Flare) and multiple monitors. Googling the problem doesn't bring back many results, so I've tended to assume that it's related to my ancient (> 3 years) hardware.

My wife bought me a negative ion generator.

After about an hour of using it, my wireless mouse suddenly inverts its up and down functionality. Pushing the mouse away from me results in the cursor moving down the screen and vice-versa. Left/ right remains as it should. I could fix it by rebooting, took a while to work out it was the generator that caused the problem.

You mean flux capacitor, David?

Hey, Steve, is your wife from the northern hemisphere? Maybe she wanted you to get used to how things work up here. :P

Yea, I saw BTTF in German and there that gizmo is called differently. Things often get lost in translation, like the chef from the Muppet Show. In the original it is the Swedish chef, in the German version he is Danish. But Kermit is Kermit and remained green.

Wonder what he is in the Swedish and Danish versions? (The American Chef maybe? )

Not clear what this thing is supposed to do for ya... is there some sort of health benefit, or are you trying to make sure you don't zap any of your electronics?

Ah, those are similar to the Ozone generators, was supposed to be healthy and improve all kinds of things. That article says it was popular in the 70s and 80s. Now that makes me think....

Does madcap have any plans to support users who aren't properly compensating for ion imbalances in the air? And could this issue affect how accurately MadCap published output renders Kermit the Frog's unique shade of green?

And most important of all, did you consider returning the ion generator for one that was less negative?

Its bad enough working today which is, in reality, tomorrow for you. So I'm in your future...

Of course, when I answer you, you're in my past. So I should be able to find out what I did to fix it before I offer advice so that I can be sure I'm saying helpful things.

Which, in this case, I'm not.

And the negative ion generator was supposed to be a health thing - it counters all the bad things caused by my computer. Can't see how it can prevent viruses though... :?
