Movie doesn't play in IE

Post by tasteslikechicken »

We are using MadCap Mimic to create training videos that we are inserting (insert Movie Link) as Flash video into our online help system. The videos work fine in Firefox but we can't get them to work in IE. There aren't any errors generated on the page and the HTML with the skin loads correctly but the movie doesn't load/play. I'm sure I'm not providing the right info - anyone have problems getting movies to load/play?

Thanks!

Does it work locally / does it work when access from a web server? Do you have MOTW enabled?

Sorry to post on an old thread but while looking in the forums I came across this post and it is the same problem that I am currently facing.

I use Flare7, Windows7 Professional and IE10. A video (size ~ 20MB) that I have inserted as a hyperlink in one of my topics opens correctly in Firefox and plays. Video format is MP4. However, when I click the hyperlink in IE, nothing happens. MOTW is enabled in the Target.

Any idea what needs to be done? Is there some setting that I am missing?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Where does the link point?

If it points to an Internet location, try removing MOTW.

Thanks Steve. No, the link does not point to an internet location. It is to a file in the same folder as the topic.

Any other ideas?

Thanks...

Googling 'MP4 internet explorer' seems to indicate a lot of people are having problems with getting the video to play. This seems a promising link:
