Validating Flare XML with an XML editor

Has anyone validated Flare XML files in an ordinary XML editor? I am using Oxygen 9.3. The problem is apparently that I do not have the right schema file. I assumed that the schema file referenced in the namespace (MadCap.xsd) would be the schema to use:

<html xmlns:MadCap="http://www.madcapsoftware.com/Schemas/MadCap.xsd">

I found MadCap.xsd in my Flare installation, but it didn't work to validate my Flare file. All elements do not seem to be declared, like <html>.

Thanks.

Flare's uses the XML schema listed in the file you use while the the topics are in the Content Explorer, Once geneated the Output is now xHTML schema.

Flare only keeps the Project files in XML code You can find these here:

C:\Program Files (x86)\MadCap Software\MadCap Flare V4\Flare.app\Resources\Schemas

Once flare has built though its XHTML and basically does not require XSD's the only reason the reference is made to the madcap site is so that it is compliant with the specifications set for XML.

So is the Flare XML format in the editor basically a customized XHTML that uses the schemas in the location you mention? Flare promo says that you can edit the files in other editors and that's what I like to do sometimes. I can't get the validation working yet though in my editor, Oxygen.
