Hello
I am using HTMLHelp as my target, and I want to be able to link to a Flash movie I made in Mimic.
When I try to use the method outlined in the help file, it doesn't work in HTMLHelp. However, it does work in Webhelp and in .Net help, which makes sense.
1) Is there a way to make it work via HTMLHelp?
2) If not, is there a way to launch an external application from HTMLHelp? I can then just link to the HTM file and it will run if Flash is installed.

Re: Link to a Mimic Flash Movie
It's been an age and half since I tried this, but back in the day I was able to get a flash movie to work in HTML help by using the Insert > Picture function. Now, having said that, what I mean by "work" in this case is the flash movie played. You couldn't control it though (it started playing as soon as the topic opened, you couldn't pause, etc.) I never pursued it further than that because our design direction changed and I no longer needed to include flash content.
Until next time....

It works as you said, which is a great start! The movie is set not to play and to wait for the user to click a button, so it's quite usable. I'd probably put each movie in it's own topic, with a link to it from elsewhere.
Thanks very much!
I hope you are ready for the big freeze, we're in for a tough week.

Hi Again, Kevin...
Oops, well it works in the Flare Preview window, but not via the CHM. Any idea why?

Re: Link to a Mimic Flash Movie
Sorry, wish I did. When I tested this before (almost two years ago) it worked in the CHM for me too. I don't have the test files I used anymore, though, so I can't look at it to see if I did anything funky to get it to work.
Until next time....

In a CHM, It will not load the Flash player as this is an external program. This is a limitation of the CHM and not with Flare

Is there a way to invoke the flash movie from the CHM, so it will play in the browser?
