one topic with a different stylesheet?

Post by bobmoon »

I have one topic that needs a different look and feel from the other (thousand or so) topics in the project. I need to force it to use a separate CSS file.

We have specified a master stylesheet to use on the project level, so I cannot select another stylesheet for this topic in the topic properties. (The Stylesheet option is grayed out because the master stylesheet is set.) We're near a deadline, and I don't want to remove the master and have to manually assign a stylesheet to all 1000 topics. The Flare help mentions a few ways of assigning stylesheets in bulk, but this close to deadline the other writers on the project may freak.

Is there some way of embedding a stylesheet reference in the source for this one topic? I've tried just using html syntax, but can't get that to work.

Thanks!

You can create a second masterpage that points to a different stylesheet and apply that masterpage just to that topic. See this KB article --> http://kb.madcapsoftware.com/default_CSH.htm#FMP1002F

Hello,

I'm attempting to do this, I would like one Stylesheet used for my Welcome page and another for the remaining topics. Basically this is to get the product logo on the Welcome page but not on the subsequent topics. We'll be generating a HTML Help target. I've read the KB article and I get to step 6 and you've lost me. I'm using Flare v10 and I don't know what "select the html style" means. Is there another way to achieve this for this type of target? Or can someone clarify step 6? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi,

Step 6 refers to the HTML tag within your stylesheet. If you open up your stylesheet within Flare, it should be displayed under Styles.

My preferred method for applying a stylesheet to a master page is to open up the master page, right click on the HTML tag (displayed on the left-hand side of the pane that displays the master page), and then select Stylesheet Links.

Gotcha, I see what you mean now. If you have your stylesheet open, and are using the Simplified view, you would select the drop down for Show Topic: Styles, it includes the HTML tag. I'm very accustomed to selecting List styles, paragraph styles so expected to see html style. I can be very literal. Thank you!
