Locate button always disabled

Locate button always disabled

Post by MC Hammer »

Hi
I remember seeing a post on this a while ago but I do not seem to be able to find it anymore.
Basically, if I include a Locate button in my skins, it seems to be disabled all the times on the HTML outputs (CHMs). As a result of that, I have selected the "Automatically Synchronize TOC" in the Basic tab of my skins so that the synchronisation is automatic. However, I would like to know if there is a way to solve the manual process of locating a topic in the TOC. Have other people come across this issue with the Locate button? Is there a way to resolve it?
Thank you.

Sorry to ask again, but anyone? (This is annoying as I am now thinking of removing the Locate button as it is always disabled...).
Also this is even more of an issue for me as the "Automatically synchronize TOC" does not seem work if your topic has been linked to a TOC book and that this particular topic has got several conditions at topic level...

Hi, Marie-Claire,

Do the target URLs of your TOC entries contain anchors (FileName.htm#anchor)?

If this is the case, and you browse to topics by clicking hyperlinks that don't contain those anchors, the help viewer can't resolve the mismatch between the two URLs and so disables the Locate button. Could this be true in your help file?

Hi Pete,
No the target URLs of the TOC entries do not contain anchors (none of them, actually), if by anchors you mean bookmarks.
My TOC entries are of the type /Content/HTML/TopicA.htm and a few have been linked to TOC books (whereas a majority is an entry under a TOC book).
